Spring transitional essentials

Hi! I know I haven't been on here since September but truthfully nothing really interesting has happened within the span of those months. I've been extremely busy with school and work, spending many of my waking minutes studying or doing homework. yuck. But, these past few days here in the PNW has inspired me to write a blogpost.  It has been extremely nice out these couple of days and it has had me a bit confused on what to wear. Its sunny, so i immediately want pull out the light colored denim and short skirts, but its cold.  I had to do a bit of compromising by wearing something that fit my mood but would keep me warm.  That is when i got the idea of showing you guys my spring transitional essentials, winter to spring of course.
Cream sweaters: My #1 essential.  The light knit cream colored sweater will have you looking weather appropriate but also keep you warm.  I know when it's sunny out i try to stray away from the dark dreary colors i usually wear on a daily basis, when its overcast and rainy outside.  I think this is a perfect compromise from being functional and fashionable.
Light colored booties: I could never give up my black leather booties but these light colored suede ones will for sure do with the beautiful weather.  Once again, they are functional, keeping your feet enclosed and warm, but so trendy and fashionable, with the cute cutouts and buckles.
Light wash denim: Probably the highlight of the season change is being able to wear light colored denim again.  After a long fall and winter of wearing leggings almost everyday, GUILTY!, its nice to wear a pair of pants that is more structured and less on the darker side of the color spectrum.
Pointed toe flats: Now that is not pouring down rain and you're not hopping around avoiding puddles anymore you can wear a more revealing shoe! Introducing.... the pointed toe flat! These can seriously dress up any outfit you wear.  I am totally excited to rock my new pair that i just got from Target. They're in black so the aren't totally out of my comfort zone.
Neutral crossbody: Lastly, my favorite, the handbag! I've been on the search for a light, neutral colored bag, like this soft brown Chloe crossbody shown.  The color is appropriate for winter as well as spring.  When the spring months do hit i would try to transition to a statement pastel bag.

Hope this gave you a little idea of what i will be wearing during the next few months when it is sunny out and maybe it'll help you figure out an outfit for those confusingly cold yet sunny days! I hope i will be able to get on here much more than i have, i have really enjoyed writing this post. :)

Gucci Soho Disco Bag

I know 75% of my blog has been about handbags that i either want, need or have, but i cant help it! It is my guilty pleasure and the one thing i am willing to splurge on. So, lets add 1 more to my list of "need" handbags. Introducing the Gucci Soho Disco bag:

I have been eyeing this bag since this past spring when i first saw it in the Gucci boutique at Nordstrom.  I have really been into small compact bags lately and with this bag coming in at 8x6x3 i thought it would be the perfect size to store all of my daily essentials (wallet, keys, phone, lipgloss/lipstick, etc.).  The bag is made with Gucci's signature italian leather, which is soft and buttery but sturdy and holds its shape. Speaking of shape, it is a classic "box" bag that will never go out of style.  It comes with one long leather strap that gives you the option of wearing it on your shoulder or across your body.  Lastly, the bag also comes with a leather tassel zipper pull that gives the bag a little playfulness.
I am pretty set on getting it but the only problem is in what color? I trying to stay away from the classic colors like black, grey or taupe and go for something a bit more daring. Gucci has put out the Disco bag in a wide array of colors, just this past season they revealed a collection of Disco bags in bold and bright colors.  This makes the decision so much harder! Well that is all i have to say about the bag I've been lusting over for the past few months.  Hopefully there will be a post on here real soon about actually purchasing this bad boy. fingers crossed!

3.1 Phillip Lim for Target

I have been extremely excited for this collection to be released since the day it was announced.  Not only was this collaboration designed by one of my absolute favorite designers but it was being sold exclusively at my all time favorite store.  The 3.1 Phillip Lim for target collection had been anticipated to be as successful as the Missoni for Target collection.  I did not shop the Missoni collection when it came out but from what i have heard i would say it was a fair comparison.

Although the whole collection is amazing, i was planning on only buying a few of the handbags shown in the look book.  Phillip Lim is known for making exquisite handbags and this collection was no exception.  They were very well designed and the colors were very fitting for the season.  I woke up bright and early and arrived at my local Target at around 7:55am.  Pulling into the parking lot i could already see a small crowd gathering near the entrance of the store, as expected.  I parked and approached the front to wait in anticipation with the rest of the crowd.  At 8am on the dot the doors opened and the madness begun.  Everybody sped towards the neat and organized display for the collection, they all seemed to be gathering and grabbing from the same area of the display, which was where the mini satchels were.  Within the first minute, all of the mini satchels in yellow were GONE.  This one bag was probably the prized item that everyone wanted from this collection.  There were a few of the larger handbags and cross body bags but they were snatched up quick by one of the other early morning shoppers.  By 8:05am, all of the handbags on the display were depleted and this was when a Target employee rolls out a stock cart with more of the Phillip Lim handbags.  I dove for the cart and started picking through all of the bags. This was my chance to get all of the items that i had planned on getting. After my hands and arms were all full with the loot i made my way to the cash register and paid for my items.  After about a 10 minute early morning shopping ordeal at Target this is what i made it away with:
-Top Handle Crossbody in black and taupe
-Mini Satchel with Gusset in black and taupe

I love the items that i purchased and can definitely see myself wearing them this coming season.

Lusting for A Mini Bag

I know its not a new trend whatsoever, but lately I have been loving the mini bag trend I have seen all over my social media feeds.  They are all just so cute and can be the perfect statement piece to any outfit. They are also very sensible seeing how they're just big enough to carry the essentials.  Now don't get me wrong, i will always love my big bags like my 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli and L.A.M.B. shopper but they do become a hassle when you are wearing them for long periods of time.  Plus, i seem to always collect a large amount of trash, like receipts, wrappers, crumbs, etc., at the bottom of my bigger purses.  With the changing of the seasons i thought it would be the perfect time to make a purchase on a designer mini bag.  I think it would be the perfect little accessory for the fall and winter.
I have picked out my top 6, not in order, designer mini choices that I am thinking of purchasing. They all range in prices and all have their pros and cons but these are the ones that appeal to me the most. Keep in mind, i have only tried on and tested a few of these bags, my opinion might change after i have taken a closer look at the others.

(1) Celine Nano Luggage - ~$2,300
(2) Louis Vuitton Alma BB - $1,080
(3) Alexander Wang Rockie - $795
(4) 3.1 Phillip Lim Mini Pashli - $650
(5) Proenza Schouler PS1 Mini Messanger - $1,325
(6) Prada Mini Promenade - $1,570

Marc by Marc Jacobs "Clearly" top handle bag

Hi! I recently made an exciting purchase and wanted to share it here on my blog.

I have been eyeing this bag all season and when i saw it at the Nordstrom's Half-Yearly sale i knew i had to have it.  It was originally $348 but i snagged it on Half-Yearly for $208! Total steal! This is my first Marc by Marc Jacobs leather handbag and so far i am loving it.  It came with the signature white dust bag and the usual tags with the MbMJ logos. The transparent front of this bag is what sets this bag from others.  Transparent bags, as well as accessories, are very trendy at the moment, most notable the clear bag from Valentino, it is a modern concept that is extremely eye catching.

The Clearly is a mix of new with a touch of classic.  The transparency is new while the shape is totally classic.  The structured box shape paired with the accordion sides and top-handle look and feel familiar, like many of the amazing classic bags.

The front of the Clearly is a clear piece of PVC and the back is a solid black piece of leather. The black is complimented with deep gold hardware.  Inside of the bag isa cream colored pouch with multiple pockets and a gold zipper to keep it closed, behind that is a compartment to hide any valuables that you wouldn't place in the clear compartment for the whole world to see.

Description taken from NeimanMarcus.com:

This structured MARC by Marc Jacobs satchel provides style you can see through, but not look past.
  • Calfskin with see-through PVC flap top and front panel.
  • Golden hardware includes logo-engraved push-lock on flap.
  • Removable, adjustable shoulder strap with 21 1/2" drop.
  • Top handle with 1 1/2" drop.
  • Zip compartment divides interior.
  • Front compartment features one open pocket and one flap pocket.
  • 8"H x 11"W x 5"D.
  • Weighs 1lb 10oz.

Totally in love with my new purchase and will be rocking it all summer long!
